Gills face huge cup ticket demand

Gillingham Football Club faced huge demand for tickets for the FA Cup game with Stoke City as they went on sale on Monday morning.

Fans queued for hours outside Priestfield Stadium in the hope of securing their place inside the ground for the Third Round tie to be played on Saturday 7th January 2012.

With season ticket holders able to buy their allocation of tickets for the cup game, fans were also able to snap up a ticket for the Stoke game if they bought one for this Saturday’s match with Bristol Rovers in the league.

As they were selling for just ten pounds, demand was high and fans were queued outside Priestfield ahead of the ticket office opening at 10am on Monday.

With demand so high both in person, online and on the phones, ticket office staff were forced to stop anyone else joining the queue from 3:10pm on Monday with the doors shut at the ground to prevent anyone else from joining the back of the long line of fans.

The ticket office is due to reopen at 9:30am on Tuesday morning, with Stoke City tickets still currently available, while season ticket holders have until Tuesday 20th Decemeber to secure their seats before they go on general sale on Wednesday 21st December.

Gillingham are anticipating a sell-out for the fixture that will see former manager Tony Pulis return to the club he left in July 1999 after four seasons in charge.
